Stone Freestanding Baths: The Weight Is the Program

A stone freestanding bath succeeds when weight, plumbing and material are confirmed before the first cut. We lock the profile in a buyer-approved 3D model, provide loading figures for your engineer and match the block to the room's stone palette.

Solid marble freestanding bathtub carved from a single block with natural veining

The buyer's pain point and our technical solution

A stone freestanding bath is the single most photographed object in a bathroom — and the least forgiving order in the fit-out. Buyers searching stone freestanding bath want what composite tubs cannot give: a tub in the same material as the room's stone, carved from one block, with real weight and permanence. That weight is also the order's first risk: a solid stone tub is far heavier than its acrylic equivalent, and a raised floor that was never checked becomes a structural conversation after the crate arrives. Drain positions are the second risk — a tub carved off the plumbing drawing delays exactly the handover it was ordered for.

What that costs the buyer

A composite tub beside marble floors breaks the all-stone palette the design promised, and owners notice. Last-minute structural reinforcement pushes delivery scheduling; an off-spec drain turns a finished suite into a re-drilling queue; and a tub that misses the room's stone tone reads as an afterthought in every photograph.

Our solution: model approved, weight confirmed, block matched

  • 3D model approved before carving: profile, drain and overflow positions are locked in a model the buyer signs off, so carving starts against a drawing, not an assumption.
  • Weight and loading figures from the model: exact weights ship with the quotation so structural confirmation happens with the build schedule — before the crate, not after.
  • Block matching to the room's palette: the tub is carved from a block allocated against the room's flooring or cladding lot, so the material reads as one program.
  • Hand carving with 5-axis CNC finishing: solid blocks shaped by hand and finished on 5-axis CNC — the same discipline documented across our sink and bathtub programs.
  • Single-piece and program scale: villa and spa orders accepted as single pieces; hotel programs quoted per floor with batch-matched blocks, lead time 25–35 days from model approval.

Value for the buyer

The tub arrives as the room's own material — matched tone, drilled to the plumbing drawing, with the weight figures the engineer already saw — and it sets on schedule.

Documented project cases

  1. Freestanding tub matched to a villa suite's stone palette

    Client / commission
    Villa developer, Mediterranean market
    Stone used
Carved stone freestanding bathtub matched to the suite's marble flooring
    What it solved
An imported composite tub broke the suite's all-stone palette; the owner wanted the tub in the same material as the floors
    Before
The composite tub read as a different material next to the marble floors and was replaced at the developer's cost
    Now
A limestone bathtub carved from a block matched to the flooring lot; the tub read as part of the same material program
    Where the data comes from
Project order file and developer acceptance records
  2. Spa suite tub with load and plumbing confirmation

    Client / commission
    Spa designer, hospitality group
    Stone used
Freestanding carved bathtub for a spa suite with raised floor construction
    What it solved
A solid stone tub weighs far more than an acrylic equivalent; the raised floor needed structural confirmation before the order
    Before
A previous heavy-tub installation required last-minute structural reinforcement after delivery scheduling had slipped
    Now
Weight and plumbing positions were confirmed with the structural engineer before carving; the tub was scheduled with the build, not after it
    Where the data comes from
Company order records and engineering correspondence
  3. Hotel bathtub program with drain-to-drawing drilling

    Client / commission
    Hotel FF&E contractor, Southeast Asia
    Stone used
Freestanding stone bathtubs for suite bathrooms across two floors
    What it solved
Tub drain positions arrived off the rough-in in a prior program, delaying two bathroom handovers
    Before
On-site re-drilling of stone postponed handover of completed suites
    Now
Drain positions drilled to the plumbing drawing before carving; both floors' tubs set on schedule
    Where the data comes from
Project order file and FF&E contractor acceptance notes

Client reviews and ratings

Client reviews on file for freestanding bathtub programs (star ratings drawn from our order records and follow-up notes):

  • ★★★★★

Villa developer: “The tub came from a block matched to the flooring — the owner's photographs finally show one material, not two.” Verifiable result: tub matched to the flooring lot and accepted by the owner (source: developer acceptance records).

  • ★★★★☆

Spa designer: “The weight figures arrived with the quotation, so the engineer signed off before the order. Access planning for the crate deserves a site visit.” Verifiable result: structural confirmation completed before carving with model-based figures (source: engineering correspondence).

  • ★★★★★

Hotel FF&E contractor: “Drains drilled to the drawing kept both floors on handover schedule — no re-drilling stone this time.” Verifiable result: two-floor tub program set on schedule without site re-drilling (source: FF&E contractor acceptance notes).

Certificates and compliance records

  • ISO-certified production processes

Solid carving, 5-axis CNC finishing and pre-shipment inspection for bathtub programs run under our documented ISO-certified process controls; certificate scope and validity are provided with quotations on request.

    ISO-certified production processes
  • 3D model approval workflow

Every bathtub program starts from a 3D model approved by the buyer before carving; model files, revision history and inspection records against the approved model are retained in our factory documentation and available to buyers on request.

Company strength

Apexstone Amoy Marble and Granite, founded in 2002, exports to 42 countries from Xiamen, China. Freestanding bathtub programs are carved by hand and finished on 5-axis CNC at our Shuitou factory, customized from buyer-approved 3D models under ISO-certified process controls documented in our factory records. Single-piece orders are accepted for showrooms and replacements.

Sourcing runs through our Shuitou hub — 2,400+ natural stone types with 85% direct quarry buying from China, Italy, Turkey, Iran, Brazil, Spain and Portugal — including the limestone and marble families used for carved tub programs. R&D includes the StoneGPS.cn platform, developed over three years, and The StoneBooks reference collection, commissioned by Harvest Asia Pacific (Hongkong) Ltd., used by institutions including Cendes Design Studio, Shanghai Institute of Visual Art (Fudan University), National Cheng Kung University and the National Taiwan Museum.

Exhibition record since 2005 includes Coverings (USA), INDO BUILD TECH (Jakarta) and the Xiamen International Stone Fair. Company profile figures: 51–200 staff, USD 20M annual revenue scale, selection by six-star hotels documented in the company profile.

Procurement FAQ

How much does a carved stone bathtub weigh, and does my floor need checking?
A solid carved tub weighs far more than an acrylic equivalent — exact figures depend on size and stone, and we provide them from the approved 3D model so your structural engineer can confirm the floor before the order. Concrete slabs normally carry the load; raised and timber floors always need confirmation.
Can the tub match the stone already in the room?
Yes. Through our block matching workflow, the tub is carved from a block allocated to match the room's flooring or cladding lot, so the material reads as one program. Exact vein continuation cannot be promised on natural stone; tone matching is confirmed at block allocation.
How are drain and overflow positions handled?
Positions are drilled to your plumbing drawing before carving, and the 3D model you approve shows them exactly as they will be carved — the detail that protects handover dates on hotel programs.
What is the minimum order?
Single-piece orders are accepted for villas, spas and showroom displays; hotel programs are quoted per floor. Every tub follows the same 3D model approval and inspection discipline.
Which stones suit a freestanding bathtub?
Limestones and light marbles read warm and calm; granites suit high-duty hotel bathrooms. Each family's sealing and care requirements are declared in the quotation — we do not present one stone as care-free.

Request a freestanding stone bathtub quotation with model approval

Send the tub model or your floor plan, the stone palette it must match and the floor construction details. We reply with a 3D model for approval, block matching for the palette and the weight/loading figures your engineer needs.
