Procurement Solution
Black Granite Paving: An Engineered Surface, Not a Square-Metre Price
Granite paving fails at the wheel paths and the first winter, not at the quarry. We specify thickness by duty, finish by exposure and cut the whole network — driveway, walkway, terrace, steps — from one graded lot.

The buyer's pain point and our technical solution
Buyers searching black granite paving are usually solving a duty problem, not a colour problem: a driveway that cracked at the wheel paths, a plaza that spalled after its first de-icing winter, a walkway that turned slippery when wet. Granite earns its outdoor reputation through density and low absorption — but only when thickness is matched to the load and finish is matched to the exposure. Paving quoted by the square metre without duty behind it is where outdoor stone programs fail.
What that costs the buyer
Vehicle-duty pavers cut too thin crack at the wheel paths within the year, and the repair is a re-lay: crews re-mobilized, base re-prepared, budget already spent. Slippery polished faces near water features become liability exposures; and in freeze-thaw climates, the wrong stone or an unnamed sealing regime turns the first winter into a spalling claim.
Our solution: thickness by duty, finish by exposure, one graded lot
- Thickness by duty: driveway and vehicle zones in 30 mm (1-1/4 in) or 40 mm (1-1/2 in); walkways and terraces in calibrated 20 mm (3/4 in); plazas at 30 mm where mixed duty applies — written into the order, not assumed.
- Finish by exposure: flamed for grip in wet and freeze conditions, honed for sheltered fields, polished kept indoors; dark granite hides tire marking and outdoor soiling better than light stones.
- One graded lot across the network: driveway, walkway, terrace and cut-to-size steps and borders cut from the same batch with batch photos per shipment, so the landscape reads as one material.
- Climate-ready specification: freeze-thaw projects get a written sealing and joint regime alongside the stone, so maintenance expectations are documented instead of disputed.
- Program scale: MOQ from 50 m² (about 538 sq ft), lead time 25–35 days from drawing approval.
Value for the buyer
You buy outdoor paving as an engineered surface — thickness, finish, grading and sealing specified per zone — instead of a square-metre price that becomes a re-lay invoice.

- What it solved
- Walkways, terraces and entry courtyards risked reading as different stones when sourced per phase
- Before
- An earlier resort project showed visible tone change between the arrival court and pool deck zones
- Now
- All zones cut from the same graded lot with batch photos per shipment; the stone network reads as one material end to end
- Where the data comes from

Procurement FAQ
- What thickness does a granite driveway actually need?
- Driveway and vehicle-duty pavers are cut in 30 mm (1-1/4 in) or 40 mm (1-1/2 in). Thin paving cut for foot traffic is the most common cause of wheel-path cracking, which is why thickness is specified by duty before anything is cut.
- Why flamed finish for outdoor paving?
- Flaming textures the surface for grip when wet and hides outdoor soiling; honed suits sheltered terraces, and polished is reserved for interior use. The finish is declared per zone on the order documents.
- Can dark granite handle freeze-thaw and de-icing salts?
- Dense granite with low absorption is the standard choice for freeze-thaw paving; our order files reference ASTM C615 physical requirements for the selections we supply. The sealing and joint specification for your climate is written into the order so maintenance expectations are documented.
- Can steps, borders and copings match the paving?
- Yes — cut-to-size steps, borders and pool copings can be cut from the same graded lot as the field, so the whole landscape reads as one stone program.
- What is the minimum order?
- MOQ starts from 50 m² (about 538 sq ft) per thickness/finish combination, sized for genuine landscape programs rather than sample quantities.
