Product Detail
Pavers that rock when you walk on them: the caliper problem behind a failed patio
The paving job was quoted, delivered and started on schedule — and then the installer finds it. Pallet after pallet of pavers, the thickness wanders: nominal 20 mm (3/4 in) pieces arriving at 18, 23, 26 mm. On sand or screed bedding there is no tolerance to hide that kind of drift. Slabs rock, lippage shows against every joint line, and the crews start chipping and re-bedding piece by piece. Nobody ordered that work, nobody priced that work, and the whole stone patio schedule now depends on how fast your crew can hand-correct a supply problem you did not create.
This is what inconsistent caliper across a large-volume order does. It does not show up at the quay — every piece looks fine on a pallet. It shows up mid-installation, which is the most expensive possible moment: labour is already on site, the landscape architect is walking the job, and the difference between a flat, quiet surface and a wobbling one is millimetres the factory never controlled.
What thickness drift costs a contractor
Re-bedding a patio that should have been laid in days turns into weeks of grinding, shimming and warranty callbacks. The mortar or screed is consumed twice. If the project is a resort pool surround or a public walkway with an opening date, the delay is measured against bookings, not goodwill. And when the contractor absorbs that cost, the next quote for granite pavers carries the fear premium — the supplier who delivered inconsistent pallets does not get a second chance at the margin they burned.
Our answer: caliper and size controlled before the pallet is closed
Our first commitment on Sea Wave granite paving slabs is the one that stops the problem: strict thickness and dimensional tolerances, precision-cut so that large-volume orders stay consistent across the whole programme — every paver of every pallet within the agreed tolerance, so installation is flat and wobble-free. Each slab is sawn on CNC bridge saws, then calibrated to the ordered thickness before it is finished, not after; a paver that leaves the line at 20 mm (3/4 in), 30 mm (1-1/4 in) or 40 mm (1-1/2 in) arrives at that measurement, whether the order is one pallet or a full season of shipments.
Formats follow the dimensions contractors actually lay and search for: 600 x 600 mm (24 x 24 in) and 450 x 450 mm (18 x 18 in) squares for formal paving grids, 900 x 600 mm (36 x 24 in) rectangles for running bond, 600 x 300 mm (24 x 12 in) for step treads and pool coping lines, and crazy paving assembled from offcuts for the rustic, textured garden pathway. Cube setts in 100 x 100 mm (4 x 4 in) and 100 x 200 mm (4 x 8 in) carry the driveway and courtyard loads. Every format is produced with the finish the surface needs — flamed for slip resistance around pools and driveways, honed for covered patios, brushed for a softer underfoot feel — and batch shade is selected and blended by lot so the grey base with warm white water-wave pattern stays even across the whole area, not just within a pallet.
How the supply keeps its promises
Volume is the other half of the risk. Landscape projects do not order patio pavers in dribbles; they order by the site schedule, and a supplier who cannot hold production open for phase two has already created the next shade-mismatch problem. Sea Wave is produced on scale with stable quarry and stock behind it, so bulk orders and follow-up phases run from the same production control — and our production-to-shipping plan is scheduled around the vessel date, with professional loading teams who cube the container so the pallets you paid sea freight for actually fit. From quarry supply through cutting, calibration, finishing, inspection and documentation, one accountable team runs the chain; you deal with one factory, not a relay of middlemen.
What this buys you
Lay the stone at the speed you quoted. No re-bedding crew, no lippage call-backs, no screed bought twice. Phase two of the project matches phase one because the tolerance and the lot controls did not change between shipments. And the frost resistance of a dense granite paving stone — freeze-thaw tolerant for northern-climate landscapes — means the surface you install stays flat through winters, not just through the handover inspection.

Questions buyers ask before ordering
What is the minimum order? 50 m² (about 540 sq ft) — from a single walkway phase to full season container programmes.
Can you match phase one in a later shipment? Yes; lot blending and the same tolerance controls apply to every production run, and repeat projects are matched against the original batch records.
Which finish for a pool surround? Flamed or brushed for wet-area slip resistance; honed suits covered, dry patios. We confirm the finish per area on the project drawing.
Do you supply custom sizes? Yes — pavers, step treads and coping pieces are cut to the project drawing on the same calibrated lines.
How is the stone packed? Optimized packing that protects edges and faces, loaded by our own team to maximize the container and cut sea freight cost.
